It has been a while, and we are still serious about it. That doesn't mean that it's a done thing. There are still logistics to figure out. But Conventions and Incentives New Zealand are very keen to have it happen and have offered a lot of help, logistically and financially to help cover bidding. A convention of this size is very significant for New Zealand.
We have briefly investigated convention facilities in New Zealand. A World Con in New Zealand is expected to draw 1500 to 2500 (tops) people. There are two in Auckland and one in Wellington that could support a World Con of this size. We still need to make more detailed investigations of accomodation and other facilities in these areas.
